Lithgow Library will close for two weeks during January 2017 for refurbishment.
The Library will close at 12 noon on Saturday 14 January 2017 and will reopen at 9:00am on Monday 30 January 2017.
The Library is to be refurbished thanks to a successful State Library of NSW grant and contributions by Lithgow City Council.
Major works include new carpet throughout the ground floor, featuring pops of colour to highlight various spaces within the library. The shelving floorplan will also be revisited, with changes to create inviting seating spaces and improving access to our collections.
A new Customer Service Desk will be another main feature of the work – a beautiful and functional furniture and a new Self-Checking Station will also be installed.
Still to come later in the new year will be the refurbishment of the children’s area, featuring colourful new furnishings and seating; new seating in the youth area; and a Print Release station to make printing and photocopying more efficient.
During the closure, residents are welcome to visit Portland and Wallerawang branch libraries, where they can borrow and return items. Items borrowed at one branch can be returned to any of Lithgow’s Library branches.
“The Lithgow Library refurbishment will ensure that our community has access to a modern, safe and accessible library,” said Lithgow Mayor Stephen Lesslie. “Residents are encouraged to use the branch libraries during the short closure of the main town Library.”
