Wallerawang Library will be beating to a different rhythm when free play along drum sessions start on 20 September 2018.
Every Thursday afternoon from 3.30pm in the Wallerawang Library meeting room there will be a community drumming session. Everyone is welcome to come and try their hand at percussion, even if you have never banged a drum before. There will be some instruments available to have a go or you can bring your own.
Community drumming is a vehicle that can lead to wellness, promote general wellbeing, as well as build community and foster team spirit. It also helps to bring our bodies back into rhythm and drumming in groups helps us feel connected to others and are just fun. Anyone can pick up a rhythm and you don’t need fancy instruments, even a strong plastic bucket will get you started.
“Libraries make great spaces to meet up with likeminded people and while drumming might not seem to be your usual library activity, the meeting space at Wallerawang Library is the ideal space for this type of group,” said Acting Library Coordinator Sharon Lewis.
No bookings are required for the group and everyone is welcome to come along. Children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardians who are welcome to join in or use the library during the sessions.
