Lithgow, Portland and Wallerawang libraries join the One Millions Stars to End Violence project

Lithgow Library is joining organizations around the world in the One Million Stars to End Violence project. This project recognizes the effect that violence has on communities and aims to help bring peace, light and hope into the world.  Making the stars is also a fun community craft activity for adults and children.

All stars created will be forwarded to the central collection which will culminate in an art installation for the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

With a goal of 1000 stars to be completed by 28th February 2017, the library is providing the materials and the space for community members to weave their stars. There will also be workshops throughout the year, as well as star-making materials and instructions available for anyone to drop in and create a star.

Come into your local library in Lithgow, Portland and Wallerawang at any time during opening hours and find the star weaving station. There you’ll find a tutorial and the ribbon you need to weave as many stars you want to contribute.
