Homework Help @ Lithgow Library

An exciting new service is about to start for students and job seekers in the Lithgow region through Your Tutor, an online tutorial service offering 1:1 free tutorial help at the times you want.

The Your Tutor service provides a one-to-one live schoolwork help for Years 3 -12 in Maths, English, Science, Business, Study Skills, Research, English Skills, Library Skills, as well as Writing Skills for essays, reports and speeches.

One-to-one tutorial help is also available to jobseekers, with assistance given with job applications, business letters and emails, and help with online searches.

Students communicate with qualified tutors in real time via the keyboard, an interactive whiteboard and shared web browsing, so that tutors can review the students’ specific homework and assignment questions.

A great feature of Your Tutor is that it is available when and where students want it, from 3.00pm to 10.00pm Sunday to Friday. Students can use Your Tutor at the Library, school, home – or anywhere on their own device with internet access. Students will need their Library card number to login to this free service. It is free to get a Library card – just head into your local Library branch with proof of address and a parent to sign. In the meantime you can start using the service right now with your parents’ Library card.

Another exciting aspect of the Your Tutor service is the 24/7 Writing Review Service. Students can upload a writing draft – for example an essay or report – and receive feedback within 24 hours.

With the introduction of Your Tutor, the Homework Zone at Lithgow Library will no longer operate after the current school term. Library staff will continue to assist students with homework research questions at any time, and study spaces will continue to be available for personal or group study.

Your Tutor will be available from 5 September 2016, via the Library’s website. Information sessions will be available to schools, and will be held in the Library. Please check the Library website – library.lithgow.com/ – and the Library’s facebook page – facebook.com/LithgowLibraryandMuseum/ – for further details.

“Your Tutor provides our young people with convenient access to qualified tutors in a safe online space,” said Library Coordinator Terry O’Keefe. “Through this initiative the Library is broadening its support to students and providing greater access to quality services.”

Providing a range of quality exhibitions and community programs that offer educational and social opportunities for all members of the community is part of Council’s Caring for the Community Strategy in the Community Strategic Plan 2026.
