Entry Details

Eligible participants

The competition is open young people aged 12 -24 who live in the Lithgow Council LGA. The participant must enter the category that aligns with their year level/age. Students may enter with their school or individually.

Entry categories

Each participant is allowed one entry only

  • Stage 4 (Years 7 & 8)
  • Stage 5 (years 9 & 10)
  • Stage 6 (Years 11 & 12)
  • Young Adult (Age 18-24)

Format

Photographs must be in jpg format, with a maximum size of 10MB. They should have sufficient resolution (number of pixels) to present well to the judges and to allow entries to be printed and exhibited at A4 size. They should be 300dpi for printing purposes.

Cropping, straightening, exposure adjustment and minor technical adjustments are permitted in all categories.

The judges will make no concessions for poor quality files.

Closing Date

The competition closes at 5pm on 16th  April  2026.

How to enter

The organisers accept no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries, or entries not received by the organisers for any reason whatsoever.

Entrants must provide the following information:

  • Their name
  • Their year in school or age
  • An email address
  • The name of their school or college, their teacher’s name, and the school’s email address and phone number
  • A brief title for the photo entered
  • A 100-word explanation or accompanying statement about their photo

 

Entrants must declare that they accept the following conditions:

  • The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • All images entered, including individual elements used to make up an entry, must be 100% photographic in origin.
  • Images must not be created by the use of AI.
  • Photos must be appropriate for a wide audience of all ages
  • Photos must NOT include nudity, alcohol or drug paraphernalia (Including vapes and cigarettes), violent imagery, sexual imagery.
  • Entrants are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions and indemnifying the competition and its organisers against any third-party claims related to judging, public display, or use of their work. If an image includes a person with an expectation of privacy, consent must be obtained from the subject, their guardian, or the owner for submission and public or online display.
  • Lithgow City Council have the right to refuse entry to participants based on the appropriateness of the submission.
  • Lithgow City Council have the right to use any submitted photographs in their newsletters, online material, display and/or promotional material. All published images will be credited.

Prizes and awards

  • First Prize – $100
  • Second Prize – $50
  • Peoples Choice – $100

Certificates will also be presented for entries commended by the competition judges.

Awards presentation and exhibition

Winning entries will be on display at the Lithgow Council Library. An exhibition and award ceremony will take place on Friday the 24 April at 5:30pm.

Privacy

An email address is required so the competition organisers can contact entrants about their entry if necessary. The email address can belong to a parent, carer or other responsible person.

The entrants’ school and contact details, including email addresses, will not be used for any other purpose, will be kept confidential, and will not be passed on to anyone who is not involved in running the competition.
