On Wednesday the 25 October, Lithgow Library held a very successful special Storytime in celebration of Grandparent’s week.
Hosted by Gemma and Joel, this Storytime was held to show the Library’s appreciation for grandparents in the local community and how much their roles play in the lives of their grandchildren.
During the special grandparents’ Storytime, the children and their families enjoyed special stories about grandparents, songs and dancing, discussions on grandparents and what they love about their grandparents. This was followed by a Library supplied craft allowing the children to create their own special flowerpots including seeds to gift to their grandparents with a special handmade card.
The inspiration behind this craft was about the support grandparents offer to their grandchildren and how they help them “grow” into their own special selves. The families then enjoyed a special morning tea.
The children enjoyed this special time with their grandparents, and it was fantastic to see the response. The children were very excited to have special guest Mayor Maree Statham join the fun in singing “Old McDonald had a farm” and engaging with them and the families.
Lithgow Library would like to thank all the families for continuing to show support to Library events, and a special thank you to the Mayor for coming along. The event was made extra special by a small grant from the Department of Communities and Justice which helped to provide supplies for the day.
