Come along to the launch of Bruce Ryan’s new novel – “Clinging”, at the Lithgow Library on Saturday 20 April 2024 at 9 am.
“Clinging” has been described as “a timely and moving book that angers, inspires and delivers compassion and truth to our darkened history”.
Set in the early 1800s, it tells the story of George Douglas, an orphan from England who migrates to Australia, who spends his years fighting the unjust treatment of First Australians at the hands of greedy immigrant landholders. Fighting for the Wiradjuri people, George sees firsthand the cruelty of a new colonial Australia establishment and risks his life to protect and amend these atrocities.
Despite having quite severe dyslexia as a child and learning to read and write very late, Bruce has always been a keen writer, and launched his first novel “1936” at the Lithgow Library in 2022. His novels are a testament to his perseverance and dedication to lifelong learning.
Come and meet the author and join us for morning tea. Copies of his novel will be available for purchase on the day.
